Himla unifies everything in a secure environment

After a preliminary study, Himla switched their ERP system to Business Central and their POS system to Sitoo. During the project, Codeunit acted as the central hub, ensuring that the systems communicated with each other, and with Himla's existing e-commerce platform. Jasmine Salisbury is Operations Manager at Himla and describes the result as a significantly more secure environment, with greater flexibility and the ability to capture error messages via Codeunit's portal.

Himla is a Swedish interior design company rooted in Scandinavian simplicity. Their products include textiles for dining, living, bedroom, bathroom and curtains. Sales are conducted through their own e-commerce, concept stores in Sweden, and a wide network of retailers. A significant portion of Himla's sales is international, primarily in Scandinavia. Their distribution warehouse is located in Uppsala, where their headquarters is also based, with around 15 employees.

Outgrowing their systems

"The system we had before was custom-built. There was nothing wrong with the system itself, but we started to outgrow it," says Jasmine Salisbury. In her role as Operations Manager, Jasmine works with IT systems, master data, purchasing and logistics. During 2023, the ERP migration took place and went live on 1 November the same year, where Jasmine together with a team handled the operational work on Himla's side.

"We did most of it internally, with support from consultants including Codeunit. It was primarily me and our CFO who worked closely together. We were given full trust in this project. When we went live with the ERP and POS systems, everything went incredibly smoothly. Our website was never down and we had no downtime at all. We were very proud of ourselves, we could barely believe we had managed to do something like this in such a short time and so independently," says Jasmine.

Understanding the business

When Himla felt they had outgrown their systems, they first engaged a company to analyse their operations and conduct a preliminary study. Thanks to the preliminary study, Himla's needs had been defined and this formed the foundation for the work going forward. The preliminary study also helped in the collaboration with Codeunit, who quickly familiarised themselves with the project.

"During the process of choosing Business Central and Sitoo, we also got in touch with Codeunit. We needed a partner in the project who would make sure all the systems worked together. The collaboration with Codeunit was completely seamless and played a significant role in the project going so well. They quickly understood our business, which was a great help," says Jasmine.

A more secure system

“After the launch together with Codeunit, Himla has an environment with a more modern interface. They can quickly generate accurate reports without needing to export and import data across multiple systems. Everything is consolidated in one place. They have precise analytics tools and can produce BI reports that show real-time business performance. Himla now also has an environment that is significantly easier to integrate with other systems. Their latest project with Codeunit is for example an integration of a new PIM system.

"When we were going to choose a PIM system, we asked Codeunit which PIMs they recommended. After analysing a few different systems we chose Plytix, and we were live within a few days thanks to an efficient collaboration with Codeunit," says Jasmine. One factor that facilitated Himla's switch to Business Central was a solid structure and well-organised master data. Before the system migration began, Himla had already done the groundwork of cleaning data, adjusting formatting and organising everything. That made things considerably easier when it was time to integrate all the data.

Using Codeunit's portal

Himla uses Codeunit's portal to monitor traffic between the different systems. "When there is an error message to handle in the portal, an automatic email is sent out. You click the link in the email and see directly in the portal what the issue is, which means we can resolve things very quickly, a really simple and smooth solution," says Jasmine, who continues. "During the project, Codeunit resolved the obstacles we encountered. If they did not have a standard solution, they built custom adaptations very quickly and efficiently. Codeunit is incredibly skilled, responsive and easy to work with."
